Tunisia are seeking a new coach for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ after parting ways with Sami Trabelsi following their round-of-16 exit to Mali at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Trabelsi, 57, took over the Eagles of Carthage in February 2025 and guided the team to the World Cup by securing top place in Group H of African qualifying.

But after being eliminated in the group stage of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025™ and failing to go on a deep run at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has decided to dismiss Trabelsi and his coaching staff ahead of the global showpiece in North America.

“The Executive Committee has decided to terminate the contractual relationship by mutual consent with the entire technical staff of the national team,” the FTF said in a statement.

Tunisia have been drawn in Group F of the World Cup, where they will face the Netherlands, Japan and the winner of the UEFA European play-off path B, which includes Albania, Poland, Sweden and Ukraine.
